Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you and you shall glorify Me.

We have no problem with the first part of God’s instruction in this verse. Calling on God when we’re in trouble comes easy. Our prayers seeking help rise quickly to Him. Our cries are loud and come from the depths of our being. We’re not as quick in glorifying God following His deliverance.  We might do a quick “thank you, Lord” but glorifying seems a bit over the top. Once the prayer has been answered we tend to forget the dire straits we were in or somehow we think we handled the situation.  Do we share answered prayers and God’s hand in them with others? Do we take that very moment to thank Him for stepping in and granting our need?  What does “glorify” actually mean?  The definition is to “worship and praise.”  God has brought each of us through dark times. He has given us His strength to take the next step when we thought we could not go on. He has made a path when we were lost. He has saved us from the depths of hell with His own Son. That alone is worthy of praise and worship. Yet, He continues to answer us in our days of trouble.  Praying this day we glorify our God and our Redeemer.
