Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the Lord, and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their whole heart.
To know God is quite different than knowing “of” God. We know of the president but we don’t know him personally. Many know of God, but do not know Him personally. To know God personally it involves our heart. It involves a desire to search for Him. It takes knowing His personality. Like anyone else we want to get to know we have to spend time with Him. We have to have conversations. God knows us so it isn’t necessary for us to monopolize the conversation. We need to listen more than we need to speak. God speaks through His word. He speaks through His Holy Spirit. He speaks to hearts open to Him. It takes our whole heart to truly know Him. He is our God and He wants us to be His people. Praying this day we open our hearts, return to Him and get to know Him personally.
