Jesus keep me near the cross, there a precious fountain; free to all--a healing stream, flows from Calvary's mountain.
Near the cross, a trembling soul, love and mercy found me; there the Bright and Morning Star sheds its beams around me.
Near the cross O, Lamb of God, bring its scenes before me. Help me walk from day to day, with its shadow o'er me.
Near the cross I'll watch and wait, hoping, trusting ever; Till I reach the golden strand, just beyond the river.

The cross is our hope. There God’s Son was sacrificed for our sins. The cross is the point of a complete exchange. Our sins exchanged for His righteousness. Our eternal hell exchanged for heaven. Our abandonment exchanged for our adoption. Our past exchanged for our future. His love for us is sealed in the cross. Our hope and trust in His sacrifice can be found in the shadow of the cross. Grace and mercy flow continuously for each and everyone beneath that cross. Praying this day the scenes are brought before us and we thank God for the cross.
