Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me under the shadow of Your wings.
The “apple of your eye” is an odd phrase not used often. It refers to something or someone that is treasured. We are the apple of God’s eye. We are treasured above all things of the earth by Him. The psalmist in his prayer wants to remain treasured and protected by God. He desires God’s influence in his life. He desires to be in God’s will and hands. Do we desire to be the apple of God’s eye? Are we seeking His daily protection? Do we allow God to influence us? Praying this day we desire to be a treasure in God’s loving eye.
