Do not let your adornment be merely outward--arranging the hair, wearing the gold or putting on fine apparel--rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.

Peter sure knows how to step on our toes, doesn’t he? Millions of dollars are spent on hair products, jewelry and designer clothing in an attempt to be better in the eyes of others. God’s demands are so much simpler for us to become a better person. A gentle and quiet spirit wrapped in kindness is what He considers adorned and adored. He cherishes the beauty we will bring with us when we join Him in glory. The acts of kindness, the soft spoken words and the encouragement shared will shine brighter than any diamond. The gentle touches bringing comfort will warm more than the fanciest of fur. The time spent helping someone will outlast the most expensive Rolex. These are the riches that touch the heart of God. Praying this day we adorn ourselves with the riches of God’s desire and not those of others.
